In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit...

On Saturday we needed a rainy afternoon activity...

It was so wet even Bilbo didn't want to go outside,

he sat by the door waiting for a dry spell.
While we decided to build Bag End!

With a fondness for the Hobbit (after all we named our cat after one) and a passion for lego this was the perfect present for Lex at Christmas! We've been waiting for the right time to build this house, a time when we can enjoy the activity and get it finished in one go!

Each bag was laid out in sections.

And we started to build...

It started to take shape fairly quick...

The little details in this set are brilliant...

Bilbo inspecting out efforts!

Putting in the windows...

Adding the food...

This made us rather hungry so we made some bread!

Inside shots...

The finished article...

It's so cool...

"Dwalin and Bofur at your service"

And here's The finished Bag End,
sitting in pride of place with our other lego pieces!

15 seconds of fame?!

Here in the UK we have a TV programme called
"Have I got news for you" it's a news based quiz show on BBC1 .

Imagine my surprise and excitement on Friday night when I see
my mouse Leo staring back at me from the television!

In one section of the show they have a guest publication
and randomly this episode they chose Teddy Bear Times!
I suppose that's my 15 seconds of fame.

If you are in the UK you can watch the show here

The IT factor...

Every now and then I make a bear that I know
I'll find it very hard to part with.

Little Bow is one of those bears,
I can't explain what it is about him that make him so special
he just has the "IT" factor!

Space...

It's been a hard decision but essential! I need more space!
Sadly the house is not expanding with my bear collection so I need to streamline a bit.
I've put a few bears on Bear Pile that are looking for new homes!

Here's one of them

This is Lucas, a cute little bear from the Cotswold Bear Company

If you want to see more details on this lovely bear and his other friends for sale pop over to Bear Pile and have a look...

Spring has arrived!

Finally after what feels like the longest winter, the sun is peeping his head out!
The days are longer and warmer (not that warm but double figures some days)
and we even managed to "tidy" the garden at the weekend. I'm pleased to say that almost
everything survived the winter (so far) and I'm looking forward to filling the garden with more pots of flowers and veggies this summer.

Bilbo is enjoying the garden, he's out chasing flies from dawn till dusk,
it's getting increasingly hard to entice him inside when it's time to go to bed!

So let me take you on a little tour........

These pansy's are from last autumn, they seem to have survived the cold well.

My favourite spring flowers are brightening up the borders.

Raspberry bushes are sprouting,
very exciting as we brought these late last year, I can't wait to see fruit on them .

Ornamental cabbage! I love purple flowers.

This heuchera is called sugar plum,
it's a really pretty shade of pinky-purple

Herbs are growing.

My broomstick is parked ready for flying.

And what's this strange plant?

It's rather furry!

Very naughty....

He just doesn't care,
no matter how many times I tell him to get out of my pots,
he just looks at me as if I'm mad ;0)

We've had to stop using the bird feeder
which is now Bilbo's tree house.

And while all this has been going on in the garden,
I've been sewing away in my sunny studio, working on shop orders,
commissions and planning my next show collection.
I hope wherever you are you have enjoyed some sun.
